The Keswick Hunt Club promotes the sport of fox hunting with organized hunts from September to March. Invited guests and junior riders are encouraged to join the hunts. The Club also maintains a full calendar of social activities throughout the year for both its members and the public to enjoy, including trail rides during the non-hunting season.
Community Involvement
& Public Education.
We have a long history of supporting various community events and charitable foundations. In previous years, proceeds from KHC sponsored events have gone to support the Habitat for Humanity, SPCA, Charlottesville Free Clinic, and Grace Church. Additionally, we endeavor to educate the public on the sport of fox hunting through local county fairs, steeplechase exhibitions, and farm tours.

This event is for both serious shooters as well as beginners who want to try their hand at this sport. Pickup some instruction from experts, and have a lot of fun with or without the pressure of competition. The event will be located at Paul and Diane Manning’s beautiful shooting range at East End, 1010 Nolting Road, Louisa, VA.

The emphasis will be on safety first, fun second. The entire shoot will be supervised by experienced competitive shooters. These Range Safety Officers will oversee all the shooting and enforce the highest standards of safety as well as give basic help and instruction for beginners. Social distancing and wearing masks mandatory.

There will be two categories, an Amateur Shoot, and a Competitive Sportsmen’s Shoot. The fee for each shoot is $85 per person, $95 if received after March 21, and all participants are required to register in advance since slots are limited. The cost includes lunch for the participant and a guest, as well as the cost of the clay pigeons. The fee does not cover ammunition, which will be available for sale at the range.

The Amateur Shoot will start at 9 a.m. and will include a brief safety review and then about 30 minutes of instruction and 90 minutes of shooting under the guidance of the Range Safety Officers. Each participant will get in 50 shots at relatively easy and varied targets (and the shooting will not be scored). A limited number of shotguns will be available, but people without their own guns need to request one in advance. The Amateur Shoot can take up to 25 participants.

The Competitive Sportsmen’s Shoot will start at 11:00 a.m. It will include shots at more challenging sporting clay targets. It is an 80-round competition. This shoot can also accommodate up to 100 participants. Shooters will be scored and a trophy will be presented to the winner for Women, Men, and Juniors. We will also have an inter-hunt competition if at least three members of a hunt sign up. We will tally scores of the top three shooters for each hunt, and present the winning hunt with a trophy.

Bagged lunches will be available for you to order when registering.

Participants may register in advance by submitting the waiver/entry form. Questions? Contact Lindy Sanford at or 540-672-5236.

According to legal advice, KHC Foxhunting will be allowed to continue under Governor Northam’s new Executive Order regarding COVID-19 regulations.

However, the total number of “spectators” (unmounted people watching the meet) is limited to 25. Moreover, each “participant” (mounted fox hunter) is required to self-screen for COVID-19 prior to each meet, as described below.

Social distancing and other related COVID-19 protocols should also be followed.

In order to comply with Governor Northam’s Executive Order intended to slow the spread of COVID-19, foxhunters desiring to go out with the Keswick Hunt Club must assess themselves for symptoms of COVID-19 before arriving at the meet by using the self-assessment found below.
